What is an eSIM?

An eSIM, short for Embedded SIM, is a digital version of a SIM card.

Unlike a traditional SIM card that you can touch, remove, or insert, an eSIM is already built into your device’s motherboard.

This means:

You do not need to insert a physical SIM card.

You do not need to buy or wait for a SIM delivery.

You do not need to remove or replace cards when switching networks.

The eSIM is installed digitally using a QR code or activation code provided by your mobile carrier — like Kango Mobile.

How an eSIM Works

Your device has a small built-in chip called an “eUICC.”

This chip stores your mobile network profile (your number + data plan).

When you scan the eSIM QR code, your phone downloads the network settings.

Once downloaded, your phone instantly connects to your network.

So the eSIM performs the exact same job as a regular SIM — but in a faster and more modern way.
